THE LOW DOWN
I am keen to change my usual nail polish colour, so nail
impresario Jocelyn Petroni has suggested that we craft a bespoke, layered shade just for me. “ The firrst layer of polish should be pigment-rich and the second, slightly translucent, so the colour underneath shines through the second layer,” she says. Joss files my nails into a soft square shape, buffs them and then wipes them with nail polish remover to remove any excess oil before painting. Her custom blend for me: one coat of Chanel Nail Polish in Monochrome (a light grey) followed by a thin coat of Chanel’s Ballerina, which gives the grey a beautiful pink hue. “This a great winter white for grey polish lovers,” says Joss.
PAIN FACTOR
Seeing my nails transformed with a customised colour is anything but painful.

One hour.
RESULTS
This is the prettiest shade of grey. I get lots of compliments. To make the colour last longer, I apply a Vinylux top coat every second day. This acts as a protective shield to wear down before the polish does.
