The dark side
A black manicure looks super chic, but it needs to be awless. “Black polish is unforgiving and must be chip free and perfectly applied to keep it looking sophisticated,” says Petroni. Here’s how to nail the look.

Harper’s Bazaar | Beauty Bucket List

From the moment you walk into the Chanel spa at the Ritz, it’s super-charged luxury in a deeply relaxed state, and the treatment rooms are faithful to Coco Chanel’s signature interior style. My treatment involves tools and techniques from around the world, and my therapist, Charlotte, is quintessentially French, with an air of grace and elegance. She treats me like royalty: her attention to detail and perfect painting is so impressive,
I will make this a regular event when in Paris. I love to experience treatments everywhere I travel and introduce the techniques I learn to my staff and incorporate them into my [Sydney] salon’s treatments. – Jocelyn Petroni, skin and nail therapist and official manicurist for Chanel Australia

beauty crew | 5 rules to follow

“I recommend a double cleanse at night before your cream. The first cleanse should be an oil cleanser, because it is the best universal solvent and dissolves makeup, excess oil, dirt and sebum build-up the most efficiently. Oil absorbs oil,” explains Petroni. And yes, you can still cleanse with an oil if you have oily skin! We promise you won’t get blackheads and breakouts.

WHO | Nail this season

Always follow an inside out approach… much of your nail health is determined by your diet, so that is the first place to start. To promote healthy nail growth and maintain strong nails, a diet rich in varied vitamins, calcium and minerals is so important. A key mineral is silicium, which is like ‘cell cement’ and helps nails to grow faster and be more resistant. It’s found in vegetables, in particular garlic and onions. Externally it’s important to care for your nails with specialist treatment products and by having regular manicures.
