She almost quit acting for good, but she bounced back with characteristic erceness, and now awakens her skills in the saddle to play her best role yet: champion jockey Michelle Payne.

At Jocelyn Petroni, we perform a treatment called a ‘Skin Regenerating Mandelic Peel’ ($230 for 45minutes) and recommend it fortnightly for a course of 6 treatments, to treat acne and congestion. It’s a specialised peel designed to immediately eliminate dead skin cells and unblock pores, drawing upon the benefits of Mandelic Acid to absorb excess oil combined with anti-inflammatory properties.
Jocelyn recommends incorporating a nail hardener into your routine, to strengthen and prevent breakages (which will help to achieve your desired length and shape), like the Mavala Scientifique K+ Nail Hardener, as well as a specialist cuticle oil. “If you regularly apply cuticle oil, as the cuticle grows back it will be smooth, without splitting, breaking and hardening”, explains Jocelyn.
‘Helen Rodriques is the Australian authority when it comes to high end wedding gowns. I explicitly trusted her and her team personally in sourcing my perfect gown and I am so grateful for their assistance throughout the process. A wedding is such a big and important day for most women, and having Helen’s advice and expertise on that journey is reassuring, it instils confidence knowing she is an absolute expert in her field.’ Jocelyn #HRBride
I always follow an inside-out approach when it comes to nail health. The rst place to start is with your diet. A key mineral is silicium, which is like ‘cell cement’ and helps nails grow faster and be more resistant. It’s found in vegetables, in particular garlic and onions. Externally, it’s important to care for your nails by having regular manicures. I advise my clients to use an at-home nail strengthening product as required, plus to generally ‘feed’ the nail with quality products that help to supplement your care topically. Take care to protect nails through a topical protector or by using gloves when using water or detergents.
The months leading up to your wedding day can be a whirlwind of appointments and it can be difficult to navigate exactly what beauty ritualsyou need to have before heading to the altar. From facials to hair cuts and spray tans to teeth whitening, it can be overwhelming to stay true to yourself in the sea of suggested beauty appointments to make for your big day. One area in which you can lighten the load is your nails. We spoke to internationally-renowned Sydney beauty therapist Jocelyn Petroni about the ultimate bridal beauty treatment – the naked manicure – which is the perfect option for the bride who wants a fuss-free look.
Spa treatments can be the perfect escape from everyday life. Getting treated to a long massage or luxurious facial that makes your skin glow is a chance to relax, refocus, and do ‘nothing’ for a while, and because we know that’s what people love, many spa and salon owners are taking the concept
of ‘indulgent me-time’ to the next level by offering treatments that include several therapists working on a client’s body at once. Having two or three therapists in the room with one client is the ultimate wellness experience, allowing the client to feel four or six hands on their bodies at once.
“Nails show signs of long term dehydration, becoming brittle with ragged cuticles, especially through winter,” The shape to go for, says Jocelyn, is short and natural with a gently curved edge– and a glossy red ochre is
this season’s rouge noir.
As we get older our skin’s natural cell turn over starts to lag and the result is often a thicker layer of dead skin cells, which creates a dull, uneven complexion. It’s at this point where vitamin A works wonders in encouraging your skin to turnover more effectively, like it used to when you were in your 20s.
I recommend applying a prescription strength Vitamin A in the form of a serum or cream every evening,” adds Petroni. But she warns that it should be used with caution, like any new skincare product you introduce into your routine.
